How to add a handbag to a model photo

Prepare a handbag styling edit with a clear product reference, carrying position, and scale instructions. Use the embedded bag changer demo.

Adding a bag is a placement problem as well as a product-reference problem. A convincing brief explains which item to use, how it is carried, and how it should relate to the existing pose.

The workflow below lets you keep the model photo and product image together. It records a demo version and supports follow-up instructions, but does not yet attach a bag to the image.

01 / BEFORE YOU START

Prepare your images

  • Choose a model photo with the relevant hand, shoulder, or side of the body visible. A heavily occluded carrying area makes placement difficult to specify.

  • Use a product photo that shows the bag body, handles, and strap arrangement. A top-handle bag and a shoulder bag need different placement instructions.

  • Decide whether the task is adding a new bag or replacing one already present. If replacing an item, explain that the old bag should be removed.

02 / THE WORKFLOW

Step by step

  1. 1

    Upload the model photo

Set the model or lifestyle photo as the main image. Review the hand and shoulder positions before choosing a carrying style.

  2. 2

    Attach the product reference

Add the handbag image as reference 1. Keep the bag silhouette and hardware visible so the reference communicates more than its color.

  3. 3

    Specify scale and carrying position

Ask for a hand-held, shoulder, or crossbody placement that suits the existing pose. Mention what should remain unchanged, then refine one placement issue at a time in the conversation.

03 / MAKE THE BRIEF CLEAR

Example instructions

Replace an existing bag

Replace the existing handbag with the bag in reference 1. Follow the original carrying position and approximate scale. Preserve the person, outfit, hands, background, and lighting.

Uses the original item as a placement guide.

Refine the placement

Move the bag slightly lower beside the hip. Keep its shape and proportions, and preserve the current person, hand position, and scene.

Adjusts position without requesting a second product change.

04 / LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER

What to check

  • Check how fingers, handles, straps, sleeves, and the bag overlap.

  • Review the scale against the torso and arms. Do not infer true physical dimensions from a generated concept.

  • Compare the clasp, stitching, material texture, and handle count with the product reference.

This prototype keeps the source image unchanged. These checks describe what to inspect when live image processing is available.

05 / QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a product-only bag image?

Yes. A clear product-only reference is a useful way to specify the bag independently of the model photo.

Can the tool replace a shoulder bag with a top-handle bag?

You can describe that change, but the carrying arrangement may no longer match the original pose. Explain the intended placement and inspect any future model output carefully. The demo does not perform this change.

Can I use a generated image as an accurate product listing?

Only after checking that the visible product details and marketing claims are accurate. A styling concept is not a guarantee of exact product representation.
